On-site Presentation on Personal Branding with

On-site Presentation on Personal Branding with… technology. On Tuesday (Oct 17, 06) I will be doing a presentation on personal branding with new technologies, and I invite anyone that wants to come ?? Most of my readers are outside of Utah but I do have quite a few here local, so if you can come on Tuesday, read on. Ive been to a few seminars lately on blogging, podcasting, business blogging, etc. and usually walk away somewhat dissappointed. The content is good, but I find that it is usually something like blogging for knuckleheads/dummies/idiots or the basics of blogging. There is lots of talk on technorati, rankings, etc. Ive felt that there were other things that could/should be covered. So Im going to go very quickly over the basics (and have some handouts so you can go delve further on your own) and talk more about personal branding, and how you *can* (not should, mind you!) use some of the newer mediums and technologies to develop, enhance, reinforce your personal brand and image. I will give some examples, specifically my monthly award winner from last month and a sneak-peak at the front-runner to win for this month (which Ill announce next Friday) and talk about WHY! This is geared towards professionals (define that as you wish) who have a desire to incorporate the web into their personal marketing strategy and if you think you are hot stuff, you should consider this as a supplement to your resume. The presentation will be about 45 minutes. It will be at about 9:30, following the usualy 1.5 hour network meeting. This is my favorite network meeting with an average of 10-15 people each week, most of these folks are senior level executives and the discussion and leads are very high-quality. You are welcome to come at 8am (we do it every week) and be there for that part also. Note that this network meeting is sponsored by the LDS Employment Center out of Sandy, so they will have a prayer. If that offends you then well, come late ?? But it is not limited to any religion, and religion is not the subject. You wont be baptized or proselited to while you are there ?? And the cost is FREE. The meeting is at the churchhouse across the street from the Employment Center. Just go in the main doors (youll see some cars parked by the only set of doors that will be open) and go left down the hallway the room will be on the left. The address is 625 East 8400 South in Sandy (thats practially Salt Lake City, for all you non-Utahns). Drop me a line (jason@jibberjobber.com) and let me know if you are planning on coming. Note, Im working on getting another JibberJobber training set up for Oct or Nov downtown, and will announce that when I have more information. I hope to go into some of the more advanced and newer features, and some best practices. More on that later. And, Ill be in Houston the week after New Years, and will try and set up a meeting there! Very excited about that! On-site Presentation on Personal Branding with… technology. Spring Style Guide for the Office

Spring Style Guide for the Office Transitioning from winter to spring is an exciting time for wardrobes. It’s great because you can pack some of those heavy sweaters away and actually have some fun with your style. Spring invites experimenting with new colors, patterns and trends, but what about at the office? I’ll show you how you can play around with your spring style while keeping it appropriate for business meetings and long days at the office. Bring Out the Florals Every spring, florals squeeze their way back into our wardrobe. But this spring, there are so many ways to mix up the classic trend. Pairing an oversized floral pattern with a bold color will definitely brighten up those office halls. As long as you keep it simple up top, with a solid neutral, you can mix it up with a floral pencil skirt.  Don’t Forget Pastels According to Glamour Magazine, yellow is huge this season. Colors are an easy way to get your office wardrobe geared up for spring because all it takes is a pop of color under a blazer or on your necklace. You can never go wrong with pastels when it comes to spring fashion, so consider investing in a few basic blouses that you can rotate regularly.  Utilize Your Prints Floral isn’t the only pattern you should integrate this season. The office lives for printed suits, and this season, there are many options to choose from. Gingham is everything this spring, and it’s one of the easiest styles to incorporate. Find yourself a gingham button-up shirt that can be paired with a pencil skirt or a pair of slacks. This is an awesome way to stay conservative, so you feel professional and ready for work but still on trend. Spread Some Sheer Although you can’t show up to the office baring it all, you can still take advantage of the sheer trend. Finding a neutral sheer top that can be layered under a sweater (and over a camisole) is a perfect way to customize this trend â€" and keep it professional.  Shoes Matter If you’re feeling uneasy about mixing some vibrant colors and patterns into your closet this spring, don’t worry â€" just focus on your shoes. Adding a pop of color below the ankle is a terrific opportunity to brighten up your wardrobe while sticking with your old faithful neutrals everywhere else. A black pantsuit can instantly become spring ready with some bold footwear. There are many different shoe designs taking over this spring, so it should be easy to find one that works for you. When in Doubt: Shirt Dress Shirt dresses are making their grand debut this season, and there’s really no excuse not to rock one to the office. While other dresses can be questionable to wear in professional settings, this trend should be a no brainer. You get all the perks of wearing a comfortable dress to the office, but still look professional and put together. This trend brings a masculine vibe that can be fun to mess around with. You can keep it neutral or add a splash of color, but definitely consider adding a skinny belt to this look. Play Polo Your old favorite is back, better than ever, and ready for casual Friday. Polo styled shirts are great because they give you comfort and the professionalism of the collar. They can be found in all colors and patterns, which means there is plenty of room to bring in some fresh spring shades. While tons of top designers will be showing off their takes on the classic polo, you’ll still be able to find them at any department store. Integrating a few of these trends from this spring style guide into your office wardrobe will definitely make you feel fresh and professional.

Simple ways to save money over the Christmas period - Debut

Simple ways to save money over the Christmas period - Debut This article was written by an external contributor. Connor Gotto has some life-hacks for any students who are looking to keep the spends down over the holidays.   With the holidays upon us and the end of the year just around the corner, its that time of year where its make or break money-wise. Its been a long time since the loans hit the bank accounts, thus students across the country are living off baked beans and instant noodles in  an effort to save enough money to fund the festivities. Christmas is, without a doubt, the most expensive time of year. Everyone is lured in by Black Friday deals and seasonal outings with friends suffering from festive fever. And, while it’s definitely a lot a fun, it can be a financial strain. Especially for those of us who just can’t bear to miss out. The good news is you’re not alone, which is something that you can definitely work to your advantage. The key is to rope all your friends in and agree on some fundamentals to help cushion the blow of Christmas. So, here are some simple ways to celebrate with some more affordable festivities. The gift situation Of all of the many things to do over the holidays, it’s the exchanging of gifts that can have the most significant effect on our financial situation, with the average British household spending around £500 on gifts each year. This figure (in theory) should be slightly less for students, but will build up nonetheless. It’s important, therefore, that you speak with your friends beforehand and figure out just how you’re going to approach gifts this year. And that means everyone too no one likes to have an extravagant gift sprung upon them when they agreed to a £10 limit. There are two ways that you could approach this, depending on your situation and what works best for you: Spending limits: One way to approach Christmas spending is to set limits within your friendship group. As we say, this could be anything and, whether it’s £5 or £50, the important part is that everyone has to stick to it. Secret Santa: Another popular (and cheaper) approach is a Secret Santa situation between friends. Pull names out of a hat, set a spending limit, and buy only for that person. This is great because you only have to buy for one person, and that person doesn’t know that it’s you who bought for them. So, if they don’t like what they receive, then you dont have to say its you! Give me time Yes, we all love to give and receive gifts, but how much joy do they really bring us? Think about it how many gifts can you remember from last Christmas? Not all that many, we’d hazard. But, we bet you can remember the times that you saw friends over the festive period and what you were doing when you exchanged gifts. So, why not cut out the unnecessary expenses and just give the gift of time over the holidays? Of course, we’re not talking about sitting in your room with people and not spending a penny, but an afternoon in the pub or a day trip to the Christmas markets will create far more precious memories than a GT gift set from Sainsbury’s. But remember; talk to your friends and agree on this first. Theres nothing worse than being faced with a bag of goodies when you’ve only come armed with the gift of time! A festive feast The Christmas feast is without a doubt the highlight of the holidays. But if you dine out, it can quickly be the most expensive part too! Throw in a couple of pub roasts and you’ll have blown your monthly food budget on three meals alone. The answer? Eat at home. Sounds boring? Nah. Have everyone buy and prepare a dish. Then turn the festive music loud, pour the Prosecco and indulge like you should do at Christmas. The best part you can do it all in your slippers! Ok, we’ll admit that the whole cooking side isn’t our favourite thing ever. However, the satisfaction of throwing together a meal for all of your friends to enjoy will soon distract from the momentary inconvenience of etching crosses into the bottom of brussels sprouts. The true meaning of Christmas What we’re really trying to say is that Christmas isn’t all about spending money. It’s about bringing people together, having a good time and making some long lasting memories. So, whether you celebrate Christmas or just want to join in with the holiday fun, everyone can enjoy, no matter how many pennies they have in the bank.  Connect with Debut on  Facebook,  Twitter,  and  LinkedIn  for more careers insights.

Do You Have Toilet Paper on Your Shoe

Do You Have Toilet Paper on Your Shoe Have you ever told someone they have toilet paper on their shoe or a piece of food stuck in their teeth? Sometimes. It depends.   But wouldnt you ALWAYS want to know if you were the victim of such unfortunate situations? So why is it that we dont show the same kindness to others consistently? What are you (we) afraid of? Job Seekers MUST Get Candid Feedback In order to fix what is broken, job seekers need this candid feedback. But who will give it to them? Certainly not the interviewer. They see too much at risk legally. Or, it is just too difficult. Lets not expect the potential employer to give this feedback. It would be nice, but it isnt going to happen. The work around is to ask people you trust for their support. Role play your interview with someone who can evaluate you. Here are questions to practice answering (or these). Give people permission to critique or evaluate how you present yourself. Ask past colleagues for their evaluation of how you were to work with (the good, bad and ugly, please). It Doesnt Stop Once You Get A Job Most of us crave feedback, especially Gen Y (twenty-somethings). We want to know how we are doing and deep down inside, we do want to know if people think we are screwing up. First, you dont have to be a supervisor, manager, or leader to provide feedback. Peer feedback is just as valuable, sometimes more. I read a post that did a great job of addressing this very issue on HBR Love, Trust, and Candor: Todays Management Priorities. Jordan Cohen sites several corporate leaders who believe in trust and candor and embed it in their core principles of leadership. He says: The realization that â€" with a foundation of trust â€" candid conversations (both positive and negative) can be shared quickly and easily with tremendous results laid the stage for what has become a lifelong practice of sharing quick observations with colleagues and family members. Assume Positive Intent I also believe in candor or as I like to call it tough love. So often I see behaviors or actions that are damaging to the individual I am newly acquainted with. While I dont have the luxury of always being able to establish trust, I feel compelled to provide candid feedback. I can only hope that the positive intent is assumed in the message. I can and will continue to share my observations, opinions and beliefs in order to help someone be the best they can be. I can only wonder how different our society, workplace, or home life could be if we all took the time and energy to provide and accept feedback based on the assumption of positive intent. So, would you tell a complete stranger they had toilet paper on their shoe? Have you delivered a difficult message to someone? How was it received?

How to Write a Resume With Resume Writing Strengh? If you want to impress employers with your resume, it is best that you learn about resume writing stern. This will be the answer to the question 'how to write a resume?'You can impress your future employer by drafting a resume that is so hard-hitting and creative, it could even raise eyebrows in the next office.
